Holliston Music and Arts Parent Association awards about $7,466 in teacher grants, tells committee how funds will be used

Ingrid Dalen Doherty, parent liaison and grants committee member, listed planned purchases that include a portable PA system for elementary music, iPads for the art department, stage tools and storage for theater stage crew, a new electric piano for the high school music department and guitars for middle-school programs.
Dalen Doherty said the association removed a past requirement that applicants pay a membership fee in order to apply for scholarships, a change made last fall "out of equity concerns." She said the group still encourages donations and thanked the committee for its support of performing-arts ensembles.
