Mountlake Terrace city manager reports Arbor Day volunteer hours, revised pool closure, tree planting and upcoming branding RFP

The Mountlake Terrace city manager reported several operational updates to the City Council on May 1, including volunteer hours from Arbor Day work, a revised pool maintenance schedule, park tree plantings and upcoming procurement for city branding.
The city manager said 59 volunteers participated in an Arbor Day in Action event at Lake Ballinger, providing a total of 177 volunteer hours. The same report included schedule changes for the municipal pool: previously planned maintenance beginning May 9 was postponed and the pool is now slated to close on May 16; work is expected to conclude by June 30, the city manager said.
Tree‑planting stakes for Ballenger Park and Bicentennial Park were placed this week and the actual planting will begin next week, the manager said. The city plans to present names for a Financial Sustainability Task Force to the council at its next meeting; the manager reported 29 people applied and 27 applied by the deadline, with a few late applications received.
The city manager also said the city will release a request for proposals for a branding and wayfinding project on May 16.
