Perryworth teacher Devon named distinguished educator

Devon was named Perryworth Elementary’s distinguished educator of the year, staff and students said during brief remarks at the school. Colleagues and pupils praised her classroom work and the STEM program she started.

A Perryworth school staff member said, “Congratulations Devon on being named our distinguished educator of the year for Perryworth. I am so proud of you and feel so lucky to have you on our team. We didn't know what we were missing before, and now we know better and we're never letting you leave us.”

Students offered shorter, personal praises. One student said, “she she's she's she's like me because I want to go to space and she,” while another student told Devon, “I like Mrs. Redaunt because she always gives us time to understand what stuff means and she always likes to explain stuff. She's really fun and her projects are even more fun.”

A different staff member highlighted Devon’s work starting a STEM program under difficult conditions: “I know Devin that it wasn't easy starting a STEM program from scratch on a cart in the middle of construction, but you never let that hold you back.” Other staff comments noted Devon’s “kind heart and calm spirit” and that students return from STEM eager to share what they learned.
