Lebanon Community School Corp praises teacher Angie Coddington; staff highlight student field experience and teacher pathway

Lebanon Community School Corp colleagues, students and an administrator praised Angie Coddington after she received the Most Distinguished Educator award, saying she organized student field experiences and supported a teacher-preparation pathway at Lebanon High School.

A teacher at Lebanon High School said, "I have worked with Angie Coddington for so many years here at Lebanon High School and she is just so deserving of this honor. She is the epitome of teacher. She puts her students first. She works with her colleagues so well, challenges us, and, brings new ideas all the time. She's definitely a springboard for me and for others for ideas and just new things that we want to try in our classroom." The speaker identified their workplace as Lebanon High School.

An administrator at Lebanon Community School Corp described a recent hands-on learning opportunity organized in part by Coddington: "Recently, the students got to take a field experience and be able to spend hours in our middle school and elementary where they got hands on experience in visiting the classrooms." The administrator added that the scheduling and organization for the experience was substantial: "The detail and the scheduling and the organization that went into it was a big task, but she was able to make it work for every student and to be able to provide them that opportunity which is key to their future."

Students also spoke directly about Coddington's classroom presence. One student said, "Congratulations. You just make, like, walking into class so welcoming, and I just love being in there. And just, like, you're so dedicated to always helping us and making sure we understand everything you give us." Another student said, "We love miss Coddington because she made class entertaining and always made every student feel welcome. We think that she deserves this award because she's the best teacher ever."

Colleagues noted a long working relationship with Coddington. One speaker described knowing her for more than 19 years and recounted her roles as a substitute and later contributing through AVID, classroom tutoring and a remediation lab: "I had the privilege of getting to know Angie my first year here at LCSC over 19 years ago when she was my next door neighbor as a substitute for an English position at the middle school. It's exciting through the years we've gotten to work together through AVID, and she was a classroom tutor to the work she did in our remediation lab here at the high school."
