City accepted into regional insurance pool; finance director begins plan review for employee benefits

South Lebanon has been accepted for membership in the Center for Local Government's insurance pool, Finance Director Tina told the council on May 1. Tina said the center's board "did vote on us as far as membership into their insurance pool" and that the next step is to examine plan options and determine what works best for the employer and employees.
Tina said she had sent a memo to employees and expects multiple meetings over the summer to discuss options; "Nothing is set in stone as far as which plan we're going with yet," she told the council. She also said the city had a "very successful tax season" and that final numbers would be available after closing the books, which she expected to report at the next meeting.
Tina did not specify which insurance plans are available through the pool, contribution rates, or an implementation timeline; she said staff will work with employees and present options in future meetings.
