The Board of County Commissioners approved a construction contract on May 1, 2025, for $1,159,000 to Proust Construction to complete site work for the Banks Hilltop Lot B interim parking area.
Administrator and project staff described the work as the next step after recent demolition and asbestos abatement; site work includes regrading, removal of infrastructure, placement of recycled asphalt and striping for interim parking. Project staff and the administrator said the goal was to complete the lot by July to provide parking for summer events, including the Cincinnati Music Festival.
Phil Beck, the project executive for The Banks project, said demolition and removal of elevated conveyors had been completed and site work was moving quickly. Commissioners asked about inclusion of the Ohio Riverwalk/bike path in the design; staff said right-of-way and striping were coordinated so the pedestrian sidewalk and the riverwalk would be preserved. Commissioners also asked about stormwater and drainage; staff said existing storm infrastructure will be added to and the design incorporates grading to prevent ponding and to direct runoff in an organized fashion.
A motion to approve the contract (buy/leave item number 1) passed by recorded vote. Commissioners recorded “yes” votes for Commissioner Driehaus, Commissioner Summer Adumis and Commissioner Reese.
