Board moves multiple appointments and a tax assessor recommendation to Tuesday consent agenda

Hubert Sparks, chief tax appraiser, presented a recommendation to the commissioners to fill a vacancy on the Board of Tax Assessors. Sparks said the term for the seat runs through the end of 2029 and that the assessor's board recommended Joe Patrick to serve the remainder of the term.
Sparks described Joe Patrick as a 2004 graduate of the University of Georgia with a major in real estate, a certified general real property appraiser in both Georgia and Alabama, and an MAI designee from the Appraisal Institute. "He has expressed interest in wanting to serve," Sparks said, and Sparks recommended the appointment be placed on the Tuesday consent agenda.
Commissioners also agreed to move other routine appointments to the consent agenda: reappointing Dave Wade to the regional EMS council for the upcoming term, appointing Mike Land to replace Jane Simpson on the Planning and Zoning Commission, and replacing an agricultural advisory board seat with Tony Trent. The commissioners signaled these items would appear on the Tuesday business meeting consent agenda for formal votes; no formal appointments were made at the work session.
The work session remarks included brief references to term lengths and qualification requirements for assessor board members; commissioners did not take final action during the May 1 meeting.
