Stormwater technician Samantha Henderson told the council volunteers also collected 818 tires — about 100 more than the prior year — and 722 truck/trailer loads of brush and limbs. The event included a free dump day and the city worked with schools and community groups; staff singled out participation by Cherokee Elementary, Hilldale National Honor Society and the Oklahoma School for the Blind.
Public-works staff thanked volunteers and sponsors and said the operation required about 300 dump-truck loads to haul materials to the landfill. Staff described the event as a successful partnership involving city crews, volunteers and nonprofit sponsors.
