Zigler said VITA offers free income tax filing services for eligible residents and that volunteers can serve either as tax preparers or in administrative roles such as scheduling and greeting clients. "There are 2 ways to volunteer with VITA, as someone who prepares the tax returns or someone who offers administrative support through scheduling appointments and greeting our clients," he said.
He described the Christmas Bureau as a program that helps residents during the holiday season and said volunteers can assist with application processing, toy sorting, preparing food boxes and stockings, distributing gifts, acting as family sponsors, or organizing toy drives or gift trees. The announcement did not specify volunteer eligibility criteria, training requirements, or time commitments for either program.
