Sunnyside LTAC reminded of May 15 JLARC reporting deadline; staff to check grantee compliance

City Manager Mike Gonzalez told the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee on May 1 that municipalities receiving lodging‑tax funds must report expenditures and tourism metrics to the Washington State Joint Legislative Audit and Review Committee (JLARC) and to the state under the applicable Revised Code of Washington provision. He cited RCW 67.28.1816 and said the committee’s data are compiled publicly by JLARC.
Gonzalez said the committee’s clerk, Jacqueline, compiles the local data for the JLARC filing and that the current JLARC filing deadline for the city’s reporting is May 15. Several members asked whether recipient organizations were meeting a recent contract requirement to submit invoices and activity reports within 60 days; Gonzalez said he would follow up and verify compliance.
Committee members noted the 60‑day documentation requirement is relatively new and that some grantees have historically submitted reports on a slower cadence. Gonzalez acknowledged his first full LTAC cycle in Sunnyside had shown spotty discipline on turnaround times and said staff would “check on that for sure.” Jacqueline was identified as the staff member who provides data to JLARC.
The committee did not take a formal vote but directed staff to verify that grantees are meeting the reporting and invoicing deadlines and to return with any recommended administrative steps if compliance is incomplete.
