During a public comment period, two volunteers described how local service connects climate work, nonprofit financial wellness, street-planning projects that touch homelessness, youth outreach and animal conservation.
Commenter 1, a volunteer, said, "My service area is Climate Change, and what I do is handle the financial wellness of non profit." The speaker described combining climate-related work with support to nonprofit finances.
Commenter 2, a volunteer, said, "I do a lot of designing for proposals for, like, street planning that work on, like, homelessness. Well, I do a lot of community outreach with City Fabrics. Really nice to be able to make an impact on, like, the younger, audience. The youth is our future. It's all about teaching them how to care for everything and everyone." The speaker described using design and outreach to engage youth and to address street-level needs tied to homelessness.
Commenter 1 added a separate volunteer example: "I've been working on a project closely aligns with, like, conservating animals. Going in person and seeing the people that work with, helping the foxes, honestly, just beautiful and warms my heart. I'm part of that and impacting in such a way." Both speakers urged others to volunteer.
"Do it. It's so beneficial. It's so fun," Commenter 2 said, and Commenter 1 added, "You get to help the community and the community, like, helps you back as well." Commenter 2 also remarked, "Step 3, honey. Good. Hey. Because the Polish court stipend is amazing, but the people, even more amazing," a personal observation about an unspecified stipend and the value of volunteers.
The remarks were part of public comment; no formal action or board decision followed these statements.
