County staff updated Morrow County commissioners April 23 on the county jail renovation plan and budget. Andy (last name not specified), a county staff member, said the county is reviewing phases 2 and 3 of a five-phase project with consultant DLZ and is trying to stay within the $5,000,000 the county allocated for the renovation.
Andy told commissioners the results of the upcoming review will determine what the county can afford to include in the renovation and that, if the plan proceeds, the county aims to go out to bid around September with a construction start targeted for spring of the following year.
Staff also said the county is awaiting news on a grant application that could affect project scope; the county expected some announcements in April but none had been posted by the date of the meeting. The update did not include any formal motions or votes on project scope or contracts during this session.
