The Sahuarita Town Council on Monday voted unanimously to recommend approval of a Class A bingo license application from the Quail Creek Bingo Club to the Arizona Department of Revenue.
The recommendation matters because the Department of Revenue issues gaming licenses for activities conducted within municipal boundaries; the council’s recommendation is part of the statutorily required municipal review.
Deputy Clerk Leah Rhodes presented the application, which was submitted July 25 and seeks authorization to hold weekly bingo games on Thursdays at 6 p.m. at the Madera clubhouse, 2055 E. Quail Crossing Blvd., in Green Valley within the town’s incorporated limits. Rhodes explained that a Class A license is for recreational and social purposes, must return gross receipts to players as prizes, and may not exceed $75,000 in annual gross receipts; licensees must file an annual financial report with the Arizona Department of Revenue.
Rhodes said town departments reviewed the application and raised no objections. A council member moved to forward the application to the Arizona Department of Revenue with a recommendation for approval; the council voted unanimously to do so.
The action refers the matter to the state agency for final licensing review.
