Summary
City staff reported on ongoing sewer repairs at Bridal Boulevard and upcoming projects awarded to contractor K and G, including the MLK reconstruction, North Garden Avenue streetscape and annual street maintenance with projected timelines through the end of the fiscal year.
City Manager and staff told the Sierra Vista City Council on April 24 that several infrastructure projects are underway or scheduled, including a nearly completed sewer-line repair at Bridal Boulevard and a series of street and streetscape contracts awarded to a contractor identified in the meeting as K and G.
The city manager reported the sewer-line repair at Bridal Boulevard at the 9092 intersection is nearly complete and that ADOT is expected to perform paving in that area next week. Contractors awarded to K and G will handle the Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) reconstruction project extending from Avenida to Escuela to State Route 90; the North Garden Avenue Streetscape project, scheduled to begin in mid-May and be completed by December; and the city’s annual street maintenance program, which city staff said began in mid-April and is expected to finish by the end of the fiscal year on June 30.
The manager said the MLK reconstruction should start quickly after completion of the current repair work and that the city expects the work to be finished by the end of the fiscal year. He also reminded the council that budget discussions will continue at a May 6 work session and noted the next regular council meeting is scheduled for May 15.
No formal action or new spending approvals were recorded on the transcript during the report; the item was presented as an informational update.
