Vineland swears in Mayor Anthony Fanucci and five council members

Vineland on Tuesday swore in Anthony Fanucci to his third full term as mayor and five members of the Vineland City Council in a ceremony at Vineland City Hall, City Clerk Keith Petrovsky said. The oath was administered by New Jersey judges and followed an invocation from Pastor Ocasio.
The ceremony marked the formal start of the governing body's new term and included individual oaths for Councilwoman Elizabeth A. McIntyre Arthur, Councilman Scott E. English, Councilman Cruz Gomez Jr., Councilman Paul Spinelli and Councilman Albert Vargas. Judge Julio L. Mendez and other judges administered several of the oaths.
The swearing-in was followed by brief remarks from the mayor and council members. Mayor Anthony Fanucci said he was “honored and blessed to come back and serve again” and pledged to continue working “with class and integrity,” remarks he delivered in his first public comments after the oath. Council members offered brief statements of thanks to family, campaign teams and city staff.
Petrovsky opened the program and explained the evening’s three-part agenda: the inauguration, a short business meeting to confirm required director appointments, and a preview of the items scheduled for the council’s next regular meeting. Pastor Ocasio delivered an invocation and benediction and asked attendees to pray for wisdom and protection for the mayor and council.
The ceremony included public acknowledgements of staff who organized the event, including the city’s special events coordinator, Sheena Santiago. Light refreshments were announced as available outside the chamber at the conclusion of the ceremonial portion.
The council will resume a business agenda next week to consider ordinances, resolutions and routine municipal business, Petrovsky said.
