Rockingham commissioners say school capital plan reprioritized after projects come in under budget

Kevin Berger, chairman of the Rockingham County Board of Commissioners, said the board worked with the Rockingham County School System to reallocate funds after several school projects came in under budget. "The schools were under budget on a couple of project[s], freeing up some money that we were able to earmark towards another project on the capital plan," Berger said during an April 21, 2025 recap video.
Berger told viewers the county and school board prioritized projects within a five-year capital improvement plan and shifted funds to move from one project to another as needed. He described the plan as adjustable over time and thanked school board members, school staff and county administration for collaborating on the plan.
