Clearwater council approves $2.3 million furniture purchase for new City Hall after public questions about noncompetitive procurement

The Clearwater City Council on May 1 authorized purchase orders exceeding $2,300,000 to BOS Tampa for furniture for the new City Hall and MSV renovations, approving the item unanimously after a brief staff presentation and one public comment.
Public Works Director Marcus Williamson said the vendor agreed to hold pricing for more than two years and that staff reduced the scope by reusing chairs, file cabinets and other items from the existing building. “We were able to actually get them to hold pricing for over 2 years,” Williamson said, and staff adjusted cubicle heights and other details based on feedback from temporary spaces.
