The Green Bay Parks Committee recommended approval of the purchase of a 2025 New Holland skid-steer loader from Gruentz Inc. for $51,500 and noted a separate quote of $8,800 for an attachment that did not require committee approval.
Parks staff said the machine is an additional piece of equipment rather than a replacement and will be used for planting trees, removing dead trees and removing stumps. Staff explained the attachment (a grapple/hoe bucket) was quoted separately and does not require committee or council approval because it falls under the spending threshold. The combined purchase remains within the department’s budget.
Committee members asked how the purchase is funded; staff said equipment purchases are managed through the equipment replacement fund and that budget variances from year to year are handled within that fund so the city does not necessarily need to bond for every purchase. Alder De Lee moved approval; Alder Wery seconded. All committee members present voted aye.
The committee recommended approval to the full Common Council for final action.
