Public Works staff said companies such as Speedy Clean, KS Energies and Miller Pipeline have worked with the city in prior years. Staff described the practice: contractors access the sewer main and run a probe up service laterals so crews can locate depth and position from the surface. That information helps avoid damage to laterals during directional boring and can alert the city to cracks or blockages.
Staff explained the master agreement is approved at the council level; after the master agreement is in place, the listed companies return with staff-level amendments to add streets as work proceeds during the year. The committee approved the master agreement and the item will move to common council for final approval.
