Committee members reviewed the quarterly program report for January through March and the library’s monthly statistical dashboard, and discussed whether the quarterly format meets the committee’s needs.
Staff said the quarterly report contains attendance and program numbers for each branch and the mobile library. The meeting included a highlight of year-to-date traffic: staff reported a traffic count of 49,785 beginning Oct. 1 and referenced that last year’s total visits exceeded 300,000. A committee member asked for clearer, printable figures after noting a dashboard graphic had been cut off when printed.
Members discussed how the quarterly report was created at the committee’s request to provide a broader view than monthly statistics. One member said the quarterly report helps explain “how many people were actually taking advantage” of library services.
A committee member asked about tax-help program statistics; staff said those figures were not yet available and would likely arrive after May. Staff also said tax-help partners remain valued collaborators.
The committee did not take a formal vote on statistical reporting formats but asked staff to continue producing the quarterly and monthly reports and to ensure printable versions show complete figures.
The committee scheduled a follow-up discussion and requested that quarterly visit and program metrics be preserved for future presentations to the city council.
