Delhi Township Administrator Mike Miller told the Board of Trustees that the township's energy aggregation contract for electricity will move to Dynegy and that letters explaining the change and opt-out instructions are being mailed to affected households.
Miller said the new contracted generation rate for the township aggregation will be 9.32¢ per kilowatt-hour and that a 100% renewable option will be available by request at 9.55¢ per kilowatt-hour. He said natural gas customers in the township remain under an AEP Energy contract at 58.94¢ per CCF.
Miller explained the transition process: residents currently served on Duke Energy's variable generation will see a short gap and be on Duke for a meter-read month before being opted into Dynegy; residents who have already chosen a private supplier will remain with that supplier unless they cancel. The administrator emphasized that four components appear on electric bills (customer charge, generation, transmission, distribution) and that aggregation affects only the generation portion.
"If you like the aggregation plan, let it ride," Miller said, instructing residents to read the mailed materials and use Puco or the township webpage to compare options. He and trustees said the township will publish current rates and FAQs on its website and that residents with questions may call the township administration.
Ending: The board did not vote on a separate action at the meeting; the contract move and mailing are proceeding under the township's existing aggregation program and consultant recommendations.
