Committee selects black granite plaque, places logo top and date on bottom for Port Richey time capsule
Summary

Volunteer Gary presented two preproof plaque designs and recommended layout changes for a replacement time-capsule marker. The committee reviewed a stainless-steel-on-granite option and a black granite engraved option and agreed the black granite plaque would be more cost-effective and durable for the site.
Members asked that the Centennial logo be placed near the top, with the words “Time Capsule” and then the date on the bottom; they also directed staff to remove a stray character from the year so the date reads “May 18 2025” with appropriate spacing. Members discussed whether to repeat the words “City of Port Richey” and agreed that using the logo (which contains the city name) and one line of wording would keep the plaque readable and allow the logo to be larger. The committee discussed whether the logo would be laser-etched or stamped; Gary said that most of the wording would be engraved while the logo might be treated differently and he would confirm the final proof with the vendor.
Staff said production turnaround was 10–15 days. The committee gave informal approval to proceed unless an objection was raised, and staff said they would place the order so the plaque would arrive in time for the scheduled Centennial events.
