Committee recommends keeping Economic Revitalization Commission in place

The Committee on Housing, Sustainability, Economy and Health recommended on April 29 that the council retain the Economic Revitalization Commission and schedule a public hearing on a draft committee report.

The committee chair said the draft report presents findings and recommends retaining the commission “without change, amendment, or repeal.” Amy Ossilbei, executive director at the Office of Economic Revitalization, told the committee she appreciated the review and said the commission includes “really outstanding community and business members” who have supported the office’s work. Eliza Talbot, chair of the commission, submitted written testimony highlighting the commission’s achievements and plans for 2025 and said she was available to answer questions.

The committee had previously asked commission members to present at its February 11 meeting and reviewed a report submitted to the council under Ordinance 17-44, which governs periodic review of boards and commissions. With no public testimony and no committee objections, the chair recommended the draft committee report be reported out for scheduling of a public hearing and adoption; with no objections heard, the recommendation was ordered.
