The Committee on Planning, Infrastructure and Transportation amended and reported out Resolution 25‑129 accepting a $2,253.46 gift from the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) to fund travel for a Department of Facility Maintenance representative to attend a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration/AAMVA conference in Orlando in May 2025.
Gene Albano, director of the Department of Facility Maintenance, said the gift supports attendance at an annual forum that helps jurisdictions meet Commercial Motor Vehicle Act requirements and keep staff current with standards. "The gift funded by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, FMCSA, is an annual forum to facilitate dialogue and training between government jurisdictions and FMCSA," Albano told the committee.
Committee discussion confirmed the department planned to send its driver and equipment coordinator and noted the department is actively hiring additional trainer positions; Albano said the city typically sends one representative to the event. The chair amended the resolution to a hand-carried CD1 and recommended it be reported out for adoption; with no objections the committee reported the CD1 out to the full council.
