County hires AME Group to migrate Owen County website from Wix to WordPress; contractor flags ADA noncompliance

Owen County commissioners approved a website migration agreement with AME Group to move the county site from Wix to WordPress and remediate accessibility gaps. AME’s service lead, Ryan Sapp, told the board the work includes relinking and reviewing some 60-plus pages and more than 500 documents, rebuilding forms and adding administrative training and backup support.
Sapp said the county’s current site does not meet federal accessibility standards (Section 508/ADA), and the migration will help bring the site into compliance; the county has until April 2026 to meet accessibility requirements. AME estimated 90–100 hours of work, a practical timeline of three to six months from information gathering through testing, and emphasized a business-grade backup solution that will save the county ongoing costs.
Commissioners approved the website migration agreement by motion. The vendor will meet with department heads to collect content and demonstrate administrative workflows; the county’s auditor and IT contacts will coordinate details including map/data access for existing GIS assets.
