County officials said the vendor built and delivered the truck after the county placed the order in 2023 and that the first payment’s deferral to 2026 gives the county time to identify funding sources or explore alternatives.
Commissioners said the county’s highway leadership will evaluate whether the vehicle fits operational needs; if it does not, they said earlier contacts had indicated a buyer could likely be found. The motion to accept the five-year lease passed on a voice vote.
The decision follows discussion of the county’s broader fiscal constraints; commissioners noted the county will need to locate funds incrementally to meet future lease payments and that options such as trading or selling other equipment remain on the table.
