New District 128 board members sworn in; Jim Batson elected board president in reorganization meeting

At a special reorganizational meeting that followed the April 28 regular session, Community High School District 128 board members accepted the official results of the April 1 consolidated election, administered the oath of office to incoming members and elected board officers.

Sonal Kulkarni, serving as board secretary for the meeting, read the consolidated‑election results for the district. The votes read into the record included the names and tallies the county reported for the consolidated election. The board voted to accept the official results on the record.

After the results were accepted, the board recessed and then reconvened to swear in newly elected members. The board then held elections for board officers: Jim Batson was elected president by roll call; board members also elected a vice president. The board appointed a president pro tem to preside over the early portion of the reorganization and affirmed administrative appointments including the assistant superintendent for finance as treasurer through June 30, 2027.

The board established its regular meeting schedule (second and fourth Mondays, with committee meetings on the second Monday) and approved a committee calendar. Board leadership said committee chair assignments, IASB and other delegate roles and additional liaison appointments would be finalized in the coming weeks. The board scheduled the FY26 budget hearing for June 9, 2025.

No contested legal challenges or recounts were raised during the acceptance of election results as part of the public record; the minutes record routine acceptance, oath administration and officer elections as described above.
