At the March 25 Board of Public Works meeting, staff told board members there is no new update from Midwest Fiber on residential service connections, and a consultant is redrafting the village stormwater report after a problem with the initial draft.
Board members noted Midwest Fiber had previously appeared on public works reports and asked whether the company was still staging materials at the DPW yard; staff said spools had been visible behind the wastewater treatment plant but that they did not have an update on the company's residential service commitment. Regarding stormwater, staff said the consultant promised a revised report and that staff expects to receive it during the week following the meeting.
Nut graf: The updates indicate outstanding items on the department's operational report—one related to a private broadband contractor's infrastructure timeline and one to a delayed consultant deliverable on stormwater management. Staff said they will provide updates as information becomes available.
Staff said they "don't have any update from them" about Midwest Fiber's residential service and noted right-of-way permits had been issued previously. On the stormwater report, staff said a consultant "had an issue with the report, is redrafting it, promised it again, I am hoping to see it this week." The board took no formal action but asked staff to report back if substantive developments occur.
Ending: Board members requested that staff include Midwest Fiber and the stormwater report status in future meeting packets when new information is available.
