Board approves $90,000 change order for LHS cafeteria renovation to speed schedule

The Community High School District 128 Board of Education approved April 28 a change order (ATP00202) for the Libertyville High School cafeteria renovation in the amount of $90,000.
District staff told trustees the change order increases contractor staffing and hours to accelerate work and avoid daytime disruptions in the school. The board was told the $140,000 figure listed in the change‑order paperwork includes $50,000 already covered by a previously bid item; the net district change is $90,000 and falls within the project contingency.
The motion to approve the change order was made by Don Carmichael and seconded by Mitesh Kotwal. A roll‑call vote recorded all board members present voting yes and the motion passed.
The administration said the additional labor will allow some work to take place in second shifts and otherwise reduce noise and interruptions during instructional hours. The board did not discuss contract amendments beyond the schedule and budget note recorded in the meeting.
