Alisal Union outlines expanded programs, after-school offerings and summer dates

José Fausto, Alisal Union director of expanded programs, reviewed the district’s after-school and expanded-learning programs, enrichment offerings and upcoming summer schedule.
Fausto said the after-school program includes a hot meal (district-provided), 45 minutes of homework support, daily enrichment rotations (music, theater, instruments), physical education and a 20-minute socioemotional check-in. He noted the district offers cultural programs such as mariachi, marimba, folclórico and Aztec dancers; folclórico is currently at six schools and the district hopes to expand to every school next year.
Fausto reported that several student groups recently won regional awards in ensemble competitions and that 40 students are enrolled so far in the Aztec-dancer program. He also highlighted Tech Talent winners at several schools who will compete at a larger regional event.
On logistics, Fausto said recovery-attendance sessions will be held on upcoming Saturdays across six schools, and summer-program registration is open. The summer program is scheduled to run June 9 through July 3, with registration available online and in paper form at participating schools. He asked interested families to register and to complete the state-required application packets with school site staff.
