Alisal Union Director of Special Education Sarais announced a special-education parent night and opened nominations for a two-year seat on the district’s Community Advisory Committee (CAC).
Sarais said the parent night is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Bucarne Cruz Sánchez community center. She encouraged families of students in special education to attend and described the CAC seat as representing parents, students and the community on matters related to special education services.
Sarais said the CAC member must be a parent of a student receiving special education services and that the district will verify residency or school membership. Nominations must be submitted by May 5 at 11:00 p.m.; if there are more nominees than seats, the district will form a committee to select which candidates are forwarded to the county.
The presenter said bilingual flyers with nomination instructions and links are available at the information table and online. Sarais invited interested parents to take a flyer and to speak with staff at the back table for help with the application process.
No formal action or vote was taken on the CAC seat during the meeting; the announcement and nomination period were informational.
