Logansport approves new firefighter and three police hires; swearing-in scheduled

The Board of Public Works and Safety of Logansport City on April 30, 2025, approved the hiring of Connor Shedren as a full-time firefighter (hire date effective May 5, 2025) and approved three police officer hires: Carlos Estrada, Levi Holder and Grant Hickle. The board completed oath procedures for the new hires during the meeting.
Fire Department leadership presented Connor Shedren—s credentials, noting he is a 2024 graduate of Lewis Cass High School, had served as an intern with the Logansport Fire Department, and holds Indiana certifications for Firefighter I and II and hazmat awareness and operations. Chief Miller said Shedren "has successfully completed the Logansport Fire Department Pension Board hiring process" and had passed required screenings; the board approved the hire and indicated the swearing-in would proceed.
The police department presented three hire letters. The board approved Carlos Estrada, a 2017 Cass High School graduate who served in the U.S. Army National Guard; Levi Holder, a 2015 Logansport High School graduate who served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps and holds an associate degree from Ivy Tech; and Grant Hickle, a 2022 graduate who previously worked for the Cass County Sheriff—s Department. The presentations noted each candidate met physical and medical screening requirements and state baseline standards for public retirement systems where applicable.
During the meeting the board administered oaths; Connor Shedren spoke briefly to thank the mayor, the board and department leadership, saying, "I'd like to take the time to thank Mayor Chris Martin, the Board of Works, Chief Miller, and Logansport Fire Department." The board welcomed the new hires and confirmed payroll and pension-board clearances were complete for the presented candidates.
Each hire motion passed by recorded vote; the board scheduled formal swearing-in ceremonies and next administrative steps after approvals.
