State Court Chief Judge Kelly Kenner McIntyre and Solicitor Wameka Loggins described the program as an opportunity for people sentenced to community service to perform structured, supervised work that benefits neighborhoods.
Resources and monitoring: The sheriff’s office committed officer resources; central services will provide tools and waste-disposal support; marshals and probation will refer appropriate participants and assist in supervision. Judge McIntyre said the courts will monitor completion so participants can satisfy conditions of sentences. Solicitor Loggins emphasized safety and said the marshal’s office and sheriff’s office will partner to make sure crews operate safely.
Schedule and scope: The program is planned for every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon in neighborhoods across Augusta-Richmond County. The mayor said he would personally volunteer on some Saturdays and urged broader community participation.
