Summary
The Board modified condition 10 in the order for application 19887a (Jam Dung Style) to require at least thrice‑weekly trash removal, weekly cleaning of enclosed trash area, and contractor rules to avoid blocking traffic.
The Board of Zoning Adjustment modified condition 10 of the original order in application 19887 to add and clarify trash and grease handling requirements for Jam Dung Style at 1724 North Capitol Street NW.
Janet Stedman, representing the business, provided photos and submissions the board had requested. Office of Planning representative Shepherd Beeman said OP supported a modified Condition 10 and recommended language to ensure grease, trash and recycling were managed to prevent public‑space impacts.
Chairman Fred Hill praised the record of submissions and moved to revise condition 10 to require at least three trash pickups per week, regular grease removal as needed for business operations, weekly recycling removal, morning‑hour collection, use of private contractors who will not impede traffic, and that trash be stored internally or in a fully covered outdoor enclosure kept closed and locked and cleaned at least weekly.
Vice Chair Carl Blake seconded; the board recorded the vote as 4 yes, 0 no, 1 absent. The modified condition becomes part of the order governing operation of the restaurant and its waste handling.
