The court then approved two road department items presented by Ben Cross, county judge: authorization to use county road funds and grant reimbursements to pave two miles of Twin Docks Road under a grant with Arkansas Game and Fish, and an appropriation to apply a polymer overseal and restriping to the courthouse parking lot to protect the surface.
During discussion, Cross described the overseal as a multi-step, concrete-focused treatment that requires a weekend to cure and said, "There's only 1 provider in the entire state that does it," noting the treatment has been used on local bridge decks and overpasses. The court clarified the product is commonly applied to concrete and not asphalt.
The court approved a transfer to pay contractors for a new roof on the Potts Inn office by moving the payment into the proper line item, and it approved transfers within the sheriff's budget to purchase practice ammunition and equipment for patrol vehicles; Blake Wilson, a sheriff's department representative, told the court "$7,000 is going to be used to buy practice ammunition" and about $6,800 for vehicle equipment.
Separately, the court approved use of proceeds from the sale of two buildings to finish the EMS construction project. Ben Cross said those proceeds—distinct from an earlier 2022 appropriation drawn from ARP funds—will be required to finish the EMS facility. The sale amount and the precise remaining contract totals were discussed but not stated on the record.
