Jack McCool, Chief of the State Assessed Properties Division, told the Board the petition requested abatement of a statutorily applied penalty tied to an escape assessment adopted earlier in the year. McCool said that State Assessed Properties Division staff had met with the assessee, received requested information, and had no objection to the requested abatement.
A motion to abate the penalty carried unanimously. Member Larry Schaeffer moved the measure and Vice Chair Sherry Lieber seconded. Ms. Cicchetti called the roll and each member present voted aye, including Controller Cohen who participated remotely. The Board instructed staff to implement the abatement as recommended in the staff report.
