School board adopts employee appreciation week, construction change orders, child‑nutrition contracts and a cooperative endeavor agreement

The Livingston Parish School Board on April 24 approved a set of routine and project actions including a proclamation recognizing May 5–9, 2025 as Livingston Parish Public Schools Employee Appreciation Week, two construction change orders, ratification of child‑nutrition bids for the 2025–26 school year and a cooperative endeavor agreement resolution to allow spending of state‑appropriated surplus funds for Live Oak High School.
The board unanimously adopted the Employee Appreciation Week proclamation after Superintendent Purvis read the resolution describing the week as recognition of all school employees’ contributions; Bob Seals made the motion and Brad Sharp seconded it.
Construction items approved included change order number 1 for the Denham Springs High School field house from Blunt Construction in the amount of $110,000. Jeff LaRosa of Coleman Partners Architects presented the change order; Cecil Harris moved approval and the motion carried with no recorded opposition.
The board also approved change order number 1 for lighting improvements at Albany High School’s baseball and softball fields, which included $4,300 for pole casings. Gene Elazar presented that item; the motion passed without opposition.
On procurement, Child Nutrition Supervisor Summer Perris presented bid results from April 22, 2025, and the board ratified awards for four categories for the 2025–26 school year. The department recommended Gold Star Foods for purchased foods, Her's Ice Cream (spelled in the packet as Her She's Ice Cream) for ice cream products, Board and Dairy for milk and milk products, and Economical Janitorial for disposables; the board voted to ratify the bid awards in one motion.
The board also adopted a resolution authorizing Superintendent Purvis to sign a cooperative endeavor agreement with the state to expend surplus allocations granted under Act 776 of the 2024 regular legislative session for Live Oak High School use — specifically listed purposes in the meeting packet were a turning lane and lockers. Bob Seals moved the resolution and Kaiten Copperman seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
No board member requested that any of the approved items be pulled for further study, and administrators said additional project details and documentation would remain available through construction and procurement staff.
