Trustees press for district action on vaping, bathroom fights and monitoring after reports from schools

Trustees asked what district-level supports are available to schools that lack manpower to monitor problem areas; suggestions included reintroducing paid hall-monitor stipends, reassigning staff, and improving camera coverage.
Superintendent Dr. Jones and district staff said the district is updating and refreshing camera systems on campus and on buses, and that cameras are one of several tools under consideration. Staff noted that some monitoring positions (for example, hall monitors or stipended positions) existed in the past and that hiring or funding those roles would require district decisions and budget support. Trustees asked administration to present specific action steps and resource needs when they return with the amended strategic-plan materials in May.
