Everett schedules May 8 open house on proposed comprehensive plan; council narrows four focus areas

The City of Everett will host a public open house on Thursday, May 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carl Gibson Center, 3025 Lombard Avenue, to discuss the proposed comprehensive plan and associated regulations, city staff announced at the April 30 council meeting.
Council President Schwab said the council has narrowed its active comprehensive‑plan work to four geographic focus areas: Mukilteo Boulevard between Sound and Upland; a mobile home park overlay; commercial corner uses that abut residential areas; and zoning in the Skyline Drive–Waverly Avenue–Bridal area. He said council members are coordinating with the administration on those topics.
City staff told the council that staff will be available at the May 8 open house to answer questions about the plan and regulations, and that parking is available on street and at the Snohomish County garage. “City staff will be available to answer questions regarding the proposed comprehensive plan and associated regulations,” the administration representative said.
Council members earlier referenced neighborhood outreach and recent briefings on housing affordability as background to the planning work. The city did not adopt or change zoning at the April 30 meeting; the open house is an informational event to gather public input on the draft proposals.
