Sarpy County approves $170,000 SID-funded pickleball courts at Sugar Creek Park

Sarpy County commissioners voted to approve construction of pickleball courts at Sugar Creek Park on April 29, adopting Resolution 2025-585 and directing the work and future maintenance to be paid in full by the sanitary improvement district (SID 2023) at a cost of $170,000.
The vote came after a public hearing on the project; no members of the public spoke during the hearing. The county’s SID engineer was available for questions but none were raised before commissioners moved to approve the resolution.
The project area was described as being in the vicinity of South 180 Ninth Street and Harrison Street. Commissioners Warren Mixon moved to approve the resolution and Commissioner Kelly Burmeister seconded; the motion passed with five ayes and no nays.
Because the resolution designates the SID as responsible for both construction and future maintenance costs, no county general-fund appropriation for maintenance was discussed at the hearing. The SID engineer remained available to staff and commissioners for implementation questions following the vote.
The county will publish the formal resolution and the SID engineer’s recommendations in the official meeting record and on the county’s website.
