The board also approved memorandum(s) of understanding with community partners to operate pre‑K programs. One agreement with the Private Industry Council of Westmore and Fayette (name in motion) will have the partner operate Head Start/pre‑K programs at 730 Rockbridge Road from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, and pay the district $46,980 for the year in 12 monthly installments of $3,915. The board approved a second pre‑K MOU (naming in the motion included a different local partner) to operate pre‑K counts programming at three elementary schools beginning Aug. 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026, at a total payment listed in the motion.
A licensing renewal for SmartFutures was approved at a total cost of $10,050 to be paid through the district’s Ready to Learn grant; the board noted the price is the same as the prior year. The board also approved a memorandum of understanding with the district’s education association for cyber services covering July 2025 through July 2026, pending solicitor review.
In finance and policy items, the board authorized continued district membership in the Pennsylvania School Boards Association for the 2025–26 school year at an annual cost of $15,840.34, described in the meeting as including policy maintenance and was budgeted through board services. The board approved a VSBA Better Unemployment Compensation System Basic Program Agreement for coverage from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, with an administrative fee of $4.50 per employee as presented.
On technology, trustees authorized the sale of surplus Chromebooks at $50 each to graduating seniors through June 13, 2025, to district staff through June 27, 2025, and to members of the public thereafter on a first‑come, first‑served basis; individuals were limited to two Chromebooks each during the sale period.
All motions on contracts, licenses and MOUs were moved, seconded and carried as recorded in the meeting minutes; several items were approved subject to solicitor review and subject to the district’s standard terms and conditions for procurement.
