District names Growth Design, BJS for referendum construction work after April vote

The Port Washington-Saukville School District board voted to award the architectural contract for its April 1 referendum projects to Growth Design Group and the construction-manager contract to BJS Construction Services, motions that passed on roll-call votes during the meeting.
Superintendent Michael McMahon summarized the post-referendum timeline and said the selections followed a Request for Proposal (RFP) process and committee interviews. Growth Design Group was recommended for its K–12 experience, local team and competitive fee structure; BJS was recommended as construction manager for its K–12 volume, safety record and an experienced project team. Growth Design partner Mike McGraw introduced his firm and said Growth’s team includes local engineers familiar with Ozaukee County.
Board discussion focused on selection process and fee structure. A motion to approve Growth Design as architect and a separate motion to approve BJS as construction manager both passed by roll call; board members recorded aye votes during the roll calls.
Administration said it had already begun coordination meetings with both firms, and that next steps will include site traffic studies for the new Saukville elementary location and a bond‑rating call with Baird to determine borrowing costs for construction. McMahon told the board a better bond rating could lower interest costs and save the district money over the life of the bonds.
No legal or contract documents were signed as part of the board27s authorization at the meeting; administration will bring the final contracts back for execution and post them according to district procurement rules.
