It was in the driveway … I don't know that cars could even avoid it,” one trustee said of recent observations.
Options discussed included: removing the bins entirely, pursuing a vendor arrangement with Rumpke for resident curbside recycling or reduced-cost service, adding physical controls (fencing or locked access), or relocating or improving enforcement. Staff said they had contacted Rumpke to explore reduced or free service for residents and would report back.
Direction and next steps: Trustees asked staff to consult with the vendor and with the county contact (Anne Peters) about alternatives and enforcement options and to include the topic on the May 13 meeting agenda for further discussion. No motion to remove the bins was made at this meeting.
