Lowndes County commissioners accepted a fiscal year 2025 Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) continuation grant and authorized the county to apply for the FY2026 Juvenile Justice Incentive Grant, which funds Functional Family Therapy (FFT) used by the juvenile court as a diversion program.
Miss Dukes introduced the VAWA continuation grant, noting staff had presented details at the work session. The commission approved acceptance and authorized the chairman to sign related documents by voice vote with no opposition.
Mr. Tye described the juvenile justice incentive grant as a continuation request and said this would be the 12th year the county has applied for or received the grant. He explained the grant supports FFT as a diversion service used by juvenile court and offered to answer questions. Commissioners moved and seconded approval of submitting the application; the chairman called the voice vote and the motion carried.
