Commissioners accept low bid for 2025 LMIG resurfacing; county match to come from SPLOST 8

Lowndes County commissioners voted to accept the low bid for the county’s 2025 Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) resurfacing project and to use SPLOST 8 funds to cover the county match.
Mr. McLeod told the commission the county received two bids opened April 15: Rheem and Son Construction at $1,478,673.94 and Scruggs Company at $1,645,355.87. The LMIG grant will pay $1,366,958.46 of the project and the county match will come from SPLOST 8, which staff said was forecast in prior budgeting so the match is already accounted for.
Commissioners confirmed this is the annual LMIG program and that similar projects and matching funds will appear in future budgets. The chairman called the voice vote and recorded no opposition; the motion carried.
