Board approves new social studies and math textbooks for middle and high school

The Warrick County School Corp board voted April 28 to adopt new social studies materials for grades six and seven and to adopt new math materials for grades six, seven, eight and high school, both to be implemented beginning August 2025.
Director of Learning Jason Fisher presented both requests. Board members thanked review committees and highlighted a new sixth-grade civics semester included in the social studies materials. Board member Mr. Mosby noted that sixth graders will receive a full semester of civics instruction and praised the books for covering constitutional basics and civic processes.
For the math adoption, board members said review committees provided detailed pros and cons and that overall the recommendations carried strong support. Both adoptions were approved by roll call.
Motions and votes: The social studies adoption motion was made by Mr. Mosby and seconded by Mr. Skinner; the math adoption motion was made by Mr. Fran and seconded by Mr. Eigner (names as recorded during the meeting). Both items carried on unanimous roll-call votes.
