Thurston County Public Works told commissioners on April 29 it will seek board approval of a five‑year interagency services agreement with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) to continue county maintenance of the restrooms and parking lot at Boston Harbor.
Karen Wiese, Public Works director, said the county’s parks and trails staff perform maintenance on the DFW‑owned parking and restroom facilities adjacent to the boat launch and that the two agencies have split the cost roughly 50/50 under the existing arrangement. The proposed renewal includes a 4% escalator across the term.
Wiese said the agreement has been in place for several years and will be incorporated into Public Works’ regular maintenance schedule for the Burfoot Park area. Commissioners did not raise objections during the agenda‑setting review. The item will be scheduled for formal approval at the next business meeting.
If the board approves the renewal, county staff will continue to perform the maintenance work and invoice WDFW for its share under the interagency agreement.
