Matt Osmond, Thurston County engineer, said the county received five bids and that the contract covers paving roughly one mile of Old Highway 9 from Old Highway 99 to just past the Maple Lane facility at James Road. Osmond requested authorization for the Public Works director to execute the contract if the board approves the award.
No formal vote took place during the agenda‑setting session; staff said the item would appear for action on the business meeting agenda. Commissioners did not raise substantive objections during the briefing.
If approved, the contract execution will be handled by the Public Works director under standard county contracting procedures and paid from the county’s REET 2 (Real Estate Excise Tax) pavement preservation allocation.
