Dunn County Housing Authority reports voucher growth and success in family self-sufficiency program

She said about 62% of voucher households are elderly or disabled and about 34% are single-parent households. The housing authority said it worked with roughly 33 landlords in 2024.
The Family Self-Sufficiency program, operated jointly with St. Croix County, served five Dunn County participants in 2024 and aims to provide individualized goals, referrals, financial counseling and employment training. The presenter said that across the last 10 years roughly 24 of 25 FSS participants showed income gains during enrollment and several moved to homeownership.
The authority noted most administrative costs are paid through HUD but requested the ongoing support Dunn County has historically provided for local housing operations. The presenter said the program reduces homelessness, supports children’s educational stability and improves housing stock through required unit inspections (HUD-required biennial inspections for assisted units).
