The Prior Lake'Savage Area Schools board approved a resolution to lay off one administrative assistant position, a 0.5 full-time-equivalent Laker Online administrative assistant, effective July 1, 2025.
Director Hermann told the board that the district reduced 2.5 FTE overall and adjusted multiple positions by reducing days; affected employees were offered bumping options under the collective bargaining agreement. Most impacted employees either accepted vacancies or stayed in their positions with reduced days; one individual exercised the option for layoff.
The resolution before the board cited Article 9 of the 2024'26 collective bargaining agreement for seniority and bumping provisions and said the administration notified affected employees and conducted the bumping process before May 1, 2025. The resolution named Brooke Whalen as the affected 0.5 FTE Laker Online administrative assistant.
The chair called for a motion. Director Frantz moved and Director Johnson seconded. The board took a roll-call vote and approved the layoff 7'0'0to'''0.
No additional layoffs were approved at the meeting; administrators said the majority of affected employees took vacancies or elected reduced days instead of layoff.
